| In
the morning, we will bring you to the Forest Research Institute
of Malaysia which is also known as FRIM. It is located at Jalan
Kepong and is the only place near Kuala Lumpur where visitors can
stroll amongst the tree tops.
Apart
from being a research institute, FRIM has many attractions for the
general visitors, nature lovers and tourists. The lush, 1528 ha
of greenery, just 16 km northwest of Kuala Lumpur or just ?hour
drive from city centre offer many opportunities for everybody to
have a first hand experience of walking through a tropical rain
forest. A jaunt on the canopy walkways takes about twenty minutes
and other attractions in the forest park are the countless trees
of various species and a timber museum.
And,
in the afternoon, you will continue your tour to Templer’s Park
which is one of the country’s oldest recreational parks. Rich in
natural wilderness beauty and located 21 km north of Kuala Lumpur
on the trunk road to Rawang. A verdant forest reserve forming a
1,214 hectares "green lung" for the cityfolks, Templer’s Park attracts
nature lovers, photographers and picnickers.
It offers a soothing and tranquil environment which cool and refreshing
mountain streams flow through Sungai Kanching, Sungai Terusan and
Sungai Gagah within this immense park. Soft mosses cover the forest
floor and huge ferns grow as epiphytes, while matured trees form
soaring canopies. Within this green haven, various forms of wildlife
such as monkeys, birds and numerous species of insect can be found.
