Taman Negara Activities

A Night in The Hide (Taman Negara)
It is well worth spending a night in one of the wildlife observation hides, even if only to sample the rich variety of forest sounds. All except Bumbun Cegar Anjing are built overlooking saltlicks, where plant-eating animals come to supplement their mineral intake.

A Visit To Orang Asli Settlements (Taman Negara)
"Orang Asli" simply means "native people" in the Malay language. The Orang Asli live a nomadic lifestyle in Taman Negara, calling themselves Batek. The Batek are a race of people, gentle, short in stature, dark-skinned and with tight curly hair. Their settlements are found along the trails. Some settlements are accessible by boat.

Cave Exploration (Taman Negara)
Gua Teliga (Ear Cave) has rock formation in the shape of an ear. Gua Kepayang and Gua Daun Menari (Dancing Leaves Cave) are some of the few limestone outcrops that you can explore along with animals and insects that live in the caves.

Fishing (Taman Negara)
Fishing is one of the main attractions in Taman Negara. Fishing permits issued to visitors cost RM10.00 per rod and apply only to the waters of Sungai Tahan below Lata Berkoh and Sungai Keniam below Kuala Keniam Kecil. Fishing tends to be best in the drier months of February to April and June to August.

Shooting The Rapids (Taman Negara)
Travelling upstream on Sungai Tembeling from Kuala Tahan is an exhilarating experience. One must be prepared to get drenched as the boat has to negotiate 7 sets of rapids. The journey to Kuala Trenggan takes about 45 minutes.

Jungle Trekking (Taman Negara)
The network of the trekking trails are clearly marked, so it is easy and safe to trek in the jungle and surround yourself in the virgin jungle. Among the more popular trekking trails are , Canopy Walkway & Lubok Simpon - 4 hour, Kual Bukit Teresek a Tahan & Bumbun Kumbang (Hide) - 4 hour, Gua Telinga (Ear Cave Exploration) - 2.5 hour, Lubok Simpon - 25 minutes & Lata Berkoh Waterfall Cascade - 5 Hour

Bukit Teresek (Taman Negara)
Enjoy the panoramic views of Gunung Tahan and the forest canopies that cover the hills and verdant valleys at the hilltop. This 334 metre hill can be reached within 45 minutes.

Lata Berkoh  (Taman Negara)

A spectacular cascade that marks the limit of easy navigability on the river. There is a deep pool below the cascade and a rocky area overlooking the rapids. An ideal site for a picnic.

Gunung Tahan  (Taman Negara)

Clim Gunung Tahan, the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia - a challenge that demands physical fitness and intense willpower along with good equipment and a guide.

Four Steps Waterfall  (Taman Negara)

The eastern flanks of Gunung Tahan and Gunung Gedong drop off very sharply into the headwaters of Sungai Tahan. One of the tributaries in the Ulu Tahan plunges and cascades spectacularly down the mountainside in what is known as the Four Steps Waterfall.
