Start the journey by road of 225 kms long takes you pass lush,
scenic countryside doted with small roadside towns, farmhouses,
Malay, Chinese and Bidayuh villages, pepper orchards, rubber and
oil palm plantations interpersed with creeper-covered trees of
the secondary jungle and tall gigantic trees of primary rainforest.
Stopover at Serian for a short tour of the town. Continue your
journey to Lachau or another roadside town for lunch until you
reach the Lemanak River where you will board a motorised longboat
for a thrilling ride - travelling upstream against the flow of
the water.
You will arrive at Nanga Kesit longhouse and experience for yourself
a way of life that goes back many centuries. Take a dip or swim
in the cool water of the Lemanak River. Dinner at a guesthouse
equipped with basic amenities. In the evening, entertainment by
the longhouse residents will consist of traditional dances to
the music of the gongs and drinking tuak. Stay a night in the
guesthouse, built specially by the residents for guests' accommodation,
in the heartland of Borneo rainforest, one of the oldest in the
world. The next after breakfast take a short trek into the nearby
jungle accompanied by Ibans dressed in traditional garb and armed
with blowpipes. Depart for Kuching via the same route as your
arrival. Your lunch provided before continuing with the journey
to your hotel. |
