- Agricultural Park
Sabah’s very own Agricultural Park which was opened
by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dar Mahathir Mohamad on March 25, 2001
has been getting a good response from the public.
During the park launch, the Prime Minister commented that the park
is the best and most beautiful in the Asean region, especially the
Park’s orchid center.
The Park consists of numerous components. The Hybrid Orchid Centre
covering four acres of the park, houses about 400 out of the 1500
identified species of orchids found in Borneo. Another exciting
aspect is the Bee Centre which has been declared as the best bee
research centers in he world. This center is unique in that it houses
four local bee species. Of the nie species recorded in the world,
five of them can be found in Sabah.
Or you might want to visit Evolution Park where replicas of species
of plants from various evolution eras are displayed.
The Sabah Agricultural Park is lacated at Lagud Sebrang about 15km
from Tenom town. On normal days the park charges RM10 for adults
while tourist need to pay RM25. Students need only pay half of the
price.
Besides visiting, the park’s ground is also conducive for camping
and there is accommodation for up to 90 people. There are also other
recreational activities like fishing and boat paddling with some
100 staff running the park.
