Excursion & Water Sports
Dreaming of spending a day in the sun with nothing
better than a good book or a suntan? For this little bit of paradise,
the coral islands just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu are the perfect
solution. Choose any of the five islands of the Tunku Abdul Rahman
Park for your own private getaway. There are ample opportunities
for picnicking, snorkeling, diving, swimming or just relaxing in
the sun.
If you’re a sport-fishing enthusiast, there are other islands to
tempt you. Mengalum and Mantanani islands off the northwestern coast
are popular fishing haunts for local and visitors alike. Set aside
at least two days for this excursion and get some advice from the
experts for the best spots to throw your line.
With two days to spare, you can also take a short flight from Kota
Kinabalu to Sandakan and a 40-minute boat trip to Selingan Island.
Snorkel, swim or sunbathe by day and at night, witness the amazing
spectacle of green turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. A combination
of a day in the sun and close-to-nature experience that is hard
to resist.
You may also choose to visit Tanjung Sempang Mengayau – dubbed as
The Tip Of Borneo. Located on the Northern tip of Borneo, Kudat
was the first capital of Sabah. This popular spot is 50km or 30
minutes drive by a car from the Kudat Township. A journey to this
historical town will take you through picturesque scenery. Kudat’s
beautiful white sandy beaches stretch for miles and its sunsets
are simply breathtaking!
Visitors to Sempang Mengayau will not only pride themselves on setting
foot on the northernmost tip of Borneo but its also where they can
view South China Sea meeting up with the Sulu Sea. It will definitely
be a satisfying break for you and your family as Kudat has so much
to offer to visitors.
