Taman
Seni Budaya
Taman Seni Budaya (Cultural Handicraft Complex) houses three impressive
wooden buildings reconstructed in the 1950’s. This is the best place
to find out more about Minangkabau architecture as the buildings
themselves provide excellent examples. Teratak Perpatih, the largest
of the three buildings, exhibits village handicrafts, stuffed animals
and a display of historical photographs. The State Museum, which
is a former palace built in 1861, showcases weapons, brassware,
silverware and also a tableau portraying a royal wedding. The third
house features ornate wood carvings but is not accessible to the
public.
