Ipoh, Perak

The Prince of Merong Mahapudisa founded Perak, in the 15th century. During the 16th to the 18th century, the Achinese, Dutch, Bugis and Thais, who wanted to gain control of Perak’s booming tin trade, attacked Perak. In 1896, Perak became a member of the Malay States until the Japanese occupation during World War II.

Perak’s attractions are mostly historical and nature-oriented. The famous cave temples of Ipoh are the only of their kind in South-east Asia.
