| Staying
in town is not a good idea of a highland holiday when nature surrounds
you. You should pamper yourself with history, spacious rooms overlooking
picturesque gardens and crackling log fires warming up the cool
highland night.
You'll
get all of these at the The Bala's Holiday Chalet Located on the
edge of Tanah Rata town, The Bala's Holiday Chalet has cozy accommodations,
reminiscent of an English country hotel overlooking the tropical
forest. Set amidst lush greenery, rolling hills and majestic mountains
the establishment offers you good value for money.
Bala's
Holiday Chalet was one of the first highlands places to provide
accommodation for visitors. It was run by Mr Balakrishnan
himself and his wife Shyamala, it was built in 1935 and was
originally the Tanglin Primary School, a private boarding school for
the children of European tea planters.
Today,
Bala's chalet has 25 cottage style rooms offering good value
for money to travelers. Word has got around that the super curries
turned out by their chefs are simply mouthwatering, so much so that
the Sultan of the State ordered his dinner there while on a visit to
the highlands. Their tea and scones found its way into the in-flight
Magazine of the Malaysia Airlines as being the best in the
highlands. With so much history, tradition, good food and comfort,
one still wonders why people come up to the highlands to stay in the
town. |
